Samhain Greetings!

Not feeling it too strongly yet...maybe when "true samhain" gets here next week (November 6) it will hit me. Still, the energy is strong when the whole world is celebrating, even if the true thinning of the veil happens when the sun is at 15 degrees of Scorpio...

Anyone out there think of Samhain as a date, as opposed to a moment in astrological time? or both? or neither?

Anyway, hoping your celebrations and observances are full and worthwhile.

I am with you: if the quarter days are calculated by the solar year, then the cross-quarter days should be as well.

But perhaps Samhain/Hallows is a season, not a day, so that there is room for parties and for the mysteries both.

I do think that when everyone around us is celebrating or observing a particular day, that wave of energy does affect us...it's also true most pagans celebrate their high holidays on the most convenient weekend closest to the holiday...

My Craft Trad hold with the 15 degrees calculations. Celebrations with my Trad co-practitioners work well because we're all focused on the same moment.

But, mostly, I go with Chas--Samhain/Hallows/whatever we call it is a season, or a period of celebration and awareness. We can hear the keys clanking on their way to the lock on the gates, the keys turning, the gates opening...and, finally, everything is closed.

I know its a long shot but I'm just wondering if you can tell me where the little pic of the three ladies around the cauldron is from? I want to use the image but would prefer to ask permission of its original owner. Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Jess

I honestly don't know; usually I try to give credit for images I find online but this one didn't have any artist's name that I could find.
